Daniela Yohannes Lunchtime Artist talk - I am a heart beating in the world: Diaspora Pavilion 2, Sydney

DiasporaPavilion 2, Sydney artist Daniela Yohannes shares an excerpt of her film ‘Atopias: I Have Left that Dark Cave Forever, My Body has Blended with Hers’, discusses her digital collage works ‘a series of self-truths’, and unpacks the themes of unseen forces, the magic authority of femininity, and false vs real memories in her work in this conversation with Mikala Tai, one of the co-curators of ‘I am a heart beating in the world: Diaspora Pavilion 2, Sydney’.

Exploring the navigations, imaginings and lived experiences of six artists based in Australia, the UK and the Caribbean, the exhibition features Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Kashif Nadim Chaudry, Lindy Lee, Leyla Stevens, Zadie Xa and Daniela Yohannes.

Streamed live on 8 September 2021, the last segment in our Lunchtime Artist Talk was recorded in Guadeloupe, Gadigal land and Dharawal land.
